The 4 Lipsticks You Must Have For Fall

As we roll into fall, not only can we look forward to boots, sweaters, and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, but we can get ready for new shades for our skin. Lipsticks and glosses are a great way to give your face that touch of fall, and B Cosmetics from Heylee B makes that possible! Heylee has gone through her collection of amazing lipsticks and shines and picked out her 4 must-have colors for this fall.

Iced Violet :: This light purple, toned luxury lipstick is perfect for everyday use. It's not overpowering or too bright, so it plays more like a lipgloss than a lipstick. This color goes great with almost every outfit and for any occasion because of its perfect tiny pop of color for your face. You would definitely want to keep this one in your purse at all times!

Impulse :: A red lip is never out of style! This red is the only red that you will ever need. With its slightly blue undertone, it goes with every skin color and is the perfect stand-out color for every day.

Pink Truffle :: A pinky-nude is another shade that can be worn anytime by almost every skin type. Nude lipsticks and lip shines have been popular for some time because of their barely-there look. Women who want to add a slight bit of color without looking like they are covered in lipstick love these types. But nudes can wash out your face and actually make you look worse. So by adding in this shade to your repertoire, you can get away with looking flawless and not overdone.

Plum Royale :: This is Heylee's favorite new color for the fall! (And mine!) It is just purple enough and just pink enough that it makes a statement for every skin type. Because of its plum color, it easily says "fall". So if you want to expand your fashion-sense, or just want to amp up your style for special occasions, this is the statement maker!

For more info on any of these colors, or for other color options, check out B Cosmetics at Heylee B! If you want more personal help, Heylee loves to do consultations. To set up an appointment with her, email heylee@heyleeb.com.

The "No Make-up" Make-up Tutorial

It happens to all of us. We are either rushing out the door, up too early (and running too late), or we are out of a key item in our make-up bag forcing us to do a quick once-over on our face to make us not look like the walking dead.

But how do you get that amazing no make-up make-up look?

Is it simple?

YES!

Make-up artist Heylee Achten has done it once again by giving us the 1-2-3 on this relatively quick and simple way to get out the door in less time and still look great.

Remember this pic? This would be Heylee on a 5am flight for work, but she definitely doesn't look like I usually do at 5am! (Way jealous!)

So here is how she gets that great look ::

1. Start your day off with a clean face. Not only should you always be doing this for the health of your skin, but it will make you feel like a million bucks, especially if a shower is a long way off.

2. Add foundation. Take a tiny drop of foundation, put on your hand, and blend it on your t-zone. (It's the space from your forehead to your chin) Brush out to all the areas of your face, blending well. This will even out your skin tone, giving it that "fresh" look. If you have any trouble areas under your eyes, a little bit of concealer can cover up pretty well. Heylee typically uses a light-cover so her skin isn't too made up. (Heylee uses B Cosmetics Liquid Foundation in "Tender Beige".)

3. Bronzer. This is what gives you that "I'm awake" look on your skin. Highlight you cheeks and you won't look so sallow and sleepy. (B Cosmetics Bronzer in "Safari")

4. Fill in brows.  Your brows shape your face, and if you aren't already filling them in and giving them some life, then this is the perfect time to start. Fresh, full brows brighten your eyes and pull your face together. (Heylee uses the "Blonde" brow duo from B Cosmetics)

5. Add mascara. No need for anything other than the mascara, because let's be honest...this is about getting by without looking like the Grim Reaper. If you just have to have eyeliner, knock yourself out. Just make sure it's lightly added.

6. Lipshine. There is no reason to be rocking your full red lips (unless you're Gwen Stefani). A little light lipstick with a shine with a tint will be all you need. This gives the color back to your mouth, and completes the look. (Heylee is wearing B Cosmetics in "Sugar Pie")

7. Feel amazing! Now that you've done this, head out the door and greet the world! You will notice that your confidence level goes up and you feel like a new person! That's a good thing! There's nothing better than feeling fresh even when you don't feel like you're 100% awake.

If you have any other questions, or there's something you'd like for Heylee to give a tutorial on, let us know! This is the perfect place to voice your opinions and even share some secrets yourself!

8 Wedding Day Make-up Tips

Every girl dreams of her big day being simply perfect and flawless. Not only that, but we dream of ourselves being perfect and flawless. We book the perfect venue, hire the best photographer, buy the perfect dress, and are marrying the perfect man. But you know what's crazy? So many brides make major beauty mistakes either out of forgetfulness or lack of knowledge.

So we have compiled 8 beauty tips for your wedding day make-up so you can look like the girl you dreamed you would!

  1. Avoid Shimmer! It's perfectly acceptable for your dress (and your finger) to have the bling. But be careful when it comes to adding shimmer make-up to your face. Instead, go for a simple, classic look that is more toned down. Shimmer powders and lotions tend to add glare to your photos, making you look overdone and with the wrong kind of glow. It's okay to add a little pearly to your eyes, but take it easy.
  2. Wax Early. No girl enjoys unruly eyebrows at any point, for any reason, so your wedding day definitely wouldn't be any different. But don't make the mistake of having your brows done too close to your big day. Instead of the day of or the day before, get your brows waxed by a professional 3 days prior to your wedding day. This will give your skin a break and help any redness and swelling to be completely gone. And if there are any strays, which there shouldn't be in just 3 days, just pluck them out the night before!
  3. Don't get vampy.  You want to be dreamy and glamorous on your wedding day because it's a special day and it will be immortalized in pictures. But this does not mean that you should have your make-up done up to look like Honey Boo-Boo's. You should still look like you! You want to be able to look back at those photos in 5-10 years and not wonder, "What was I thinking?" Go for stunning but still classy and understated. You won't regret it.
  4. Use Falsies. We are talking eyelashes here! To give your eyes the best chance of making a statement and standing out, wear flash lashes. They can give you volume and length, making your eyes really pop. Plus, this is a great way to amp up your style without going too far over the top. Just make sure to either have someone do them for you who is familiar with false lashes, or practice a few times before your big day. This will help you avoid a mess and frustration.
  5. Don't be Stingy. It's extremely easy for the camera to wash you out (as well as indoor lighting), making your skin look dull and colorless. So don't be afraid of things like spray tans, and a little extra blush to help make you look fresh instead of sallow. Be careful not to overdo it, but just be aware that a little more than normal is okay.
  6. No SPF! Unless your wedding is outside on the beach in the middle of the day, don't use moisturizer or foundation that has SPF in it. Most people don't realize that SPF turns your skin more white in photos because of its protective layer.
  7. Veil = No Gloss. If you have opted to wear a veil, even if it will just trail behind you, avoid wearing lip gloss. All it takes is one gush of wind or wrong movement, and that veil will stick to your lips like glue, transferring your colored lips to your white outfit. It can also smear and leave a sticky, hard to remove, residue on your skin.
  8. Waterproof Mascara. It seems like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how many women overlook this detail as they get ready. The last thing on their mind as they are getting prepped is whether or not their mascara will run if they cry (and you will...it's a fact). Don't make this major mistake because otherwise you will have black streaks on your face and possibly on your beautiful white gown.

Hopefully these 8 steps are helpful to you as you prepare for your big day!! If you want to go the extra step, see a make-up pro (we suggest just hiring one) so they can show you different looks and shades for your skin. Then there are no surprises when you're in the moment, and you can just relax, be beautiful, and marry your love!

**If you're a bride getting ready for your wedding and need more tips or advice, Heylee is wedding day pro! She is available for hire in any capacity, and wants to help you make your day smooth sailing. You can email her at heylee@heyleeb.com for more info.

Defining "Beautiful"

It seems like such a cliche question.

What is the definition of beautiful?

But I think that we ask ourselves this question on a daily basis. We wonder if it's defined by the clothes that we wear, or the way our makeup looks, or the cut and style of our hair. We wonder if it's the size and shape of our bodies.

I am a believer that true beauty, the kind that lasts and stands out, is found in something so much deeper.

Beautiful is when you put someone before yourself.

Beautiful is when you are patient in chaos.

Beautiful is when you love deeply and selflessly.

Beautiful is how you must choose to see yourself.

When you find yourself standing in front of the mirror, changing clothes for the umpteenth time, stop. Take a breath. Remember that you are beautiful whether old or young, tall or short, thick or thin. It will take guts to tell yourself that you are beautiful and to block out all the negative swirling in your head.

What do you currently believe about yourself, but want to change? Where do you struggle? How can you remind yourself that you are not defined by the world around you?

Be brave. Tell us. When you say negative things out loud, the grip they have on you loosens...making room for new, positive things.

7 Top Trends for Fall 2014

Fall is just around the corner, and new looks are calling for attention! As designers sent models down the runway, there were a few trends that stood out to us, and we want to share them with you! We know that some will appeal to you and some won't, but now is your chance to stand out and push your closet just a little!

Robe Coats :: We love this! These coats are loose, wrap around your body, and are totally chic. They can be dressed up for a night out, but still worn loose with jeans and a scarf. Don't be afraid to embrace the robe coat this fall/winter!

Novelty Prints :: We aren't sure who doesn't love a great print, and taking it way out of the box are novelty prints. They are whimsical, fun, and flirty. While you don't have to wear that print head to toe, we would encourage a couple stand-out pieces that you can wear with anything.

Knits :: Nothing says "classic" more than knits. These are rarely out of style, and come in every size, shape, color, and style. Wear them with everything. They make a great closet staple that can be worn almost year-round.

Scandinavian :: We have seen amazing printed leggings and sweaters for a few years, but now is the time to embrace your inner Swede! Leggings are the easiest way to add that super fun Scandinavian style to your closet. Just pair them with your favorite knit sweater and great boots and you're set!

Dresses over pants ::  We know that this trend will be more of a stretch for some. But we think it's a great way to take some of those great tunics you bought for summer and carry them through the year. You can pair short or long dresses with everything from skinny jeans to Dickies, it's your call!

Cowboy :: Living in Nashville, we find this trend perfect! There are so many great things about true country style, so find your inner Carrie Underwood and pair those fringe boots you already have with some great country prints! Don't be afraid of the big hats as well...they are always a plus and great statement piece.

Turtlenecks ::  These are not your 1987-style turtlenecks. These are high-fashion must-haves that come in many shapes and sizes. They are great to wear on their own, but are even better for layering. Consider this a staple, and don't be afraid to wear it many different ways.

Heylee B will be bringing in some great fashion for this fall, so watch for these trends to hit our racks soon!

Introducing B. Cosmetics!

We are so excited to announce that Heylee B. is now carrying B. Cosmetics! This new cosmetic line will be bringing you the best in foundations, eye color, lip shades, and blush.

The foundation is mineral-based and talc-free and will be available in multiple shades. It is a liquid foundation that is seriously amazing! It goes on smooth and dries quickly to a powder-like feel. What's even more amazing about this foundation is the price! It will be available for around $28, which is a steal for this top of the line stuff.

Bronzers are available as a matte and the other one has a hint of shimmer. They come in a pressed powder form. Bronzer is a great way to keep that sun-kissed look year-round. And with these fun zebra and leopard prints, you're sure to love them!

There will be 4 shades of blush to bring the color to your cheeks: natural, coral, plum, and a pink berry. Each one will also come as a pressed, mineral-based powder that will go on your face leaving you looking fresh and bright. Heylee's favorite blush, and a must-have for her bag is the plum. She says you'd never know it, but it looks amazing on almost every skin type!

Eyeshadows will be available in matte, mineral-matte, and polychromatic shades. Each shadow will be available individually, which gives you the ability to mix-and-match the shades that you love and build your own eye shadow palette. Because each shadow has a magnetic bottom, they can be put together into a magnetic palette. No being stuck with a color that you don't love ever again!

Last, but not least, are the lipsticks. There will be tons of shades for you to choose from that will go great with every style you choose and every skin tone. The one that Heylee is never without? The hot red color "Impulse"! And at $14, you can get a couple!

We are so excited to bring this amazing new line to you, and if you aren't sure about colors, Heylee would be willing to send you samples so you can make sure you have the right one! Because of her training, she is also willing and available on a limited basis to set up appointments with you to give the once-over and show you all the stuff that goes best with your skin color. Just email her at heylee@heyleeb.com to set up an appointment or ask her a question!

Heylee B is Now Bringing You Cosmetics!

Ladies (and gentlemen who care about cosmetics), Heylee B. is proud to announce that it has just launched its very own cosmetic line called B.

Now, some of you might be wondering, "B.?"

In keeping with the Heylee B brand, the "Bstands for Brianne, which is Heylee's middle name.

(Catchy and easy to remember!)

For those who didn't know, Heylee Achten (owner of Heylee B) is a professionally trained make-up artist who graduated from the prestigious M.U.D. (Make Up Designory) School in Burbank, CA. While attending M.U.D., Heylee learned beauty essentials, airbrushing, bridal make-up, high-fashion trends, and avant-garde looks just to name a few. Each class helped her hone her skills and be on the cutting edge of all things make-up. While in Los Angeles, she even had the opportunity to work with stars such as Kristin Bell and even be on the set of America's Next Top Model.

This new make-up line will be available for purchase starting on August 1st, and it will include some of the best trends and color palettes on the market! And for those who hate make-up loaded full of harsh chemicals, B will be mineral based, which is better for your skin! We love that these cosmetics will be top of the line but still at an affordable price!

Keep your eyes peeled for B., which will be headed your way August 1st!

5 Ways to Take Your Summer Wardrobe Into Fall

It can be a little discouraging to look into your closet and see summer clothes filling your hangers as fall peeks around the corner.

"How in the world am I supposed to wear that summer maxi when it gets cold?"

"Short skirts won't work right?"

"Please tell me that the 4 pairs of shorts I bought won't collect dust!"

Have no fear! We have 5 ways that you can wear those summer clothes into the fall, no problem! (Plus save money because you don't have to buy new! Woot woot!!) We are showing you below some of the clothes that are great to pair with what is popular this fall. If you don't already have these year-round threads, be sure to get them before they are gone!

  • Leather jackets :: This is a must have for every closet. Black would be our go-to color since it goes with everything, but a nice caramel brown is not a bad choice either. You can spend hundreds on nice leather or less than $30 on synthetic, so don't be afraid to get creative with your budget. Remember that amazing maxi or jumper that you bought? Pair it with a leather jacket, a cute pair of booties, and a scarf and voila! An amazing, and much warmer, fall look without breaking the bank! (Get To It Jumper & Midnight Tide Dress)

  • Tights or leggings :: Again, a must-have because they go with everything! Pair leggings with any tunic, layering with a sweater or jacket (especially if it's short sleeved) and throw on boots to keep your toes warm. Have a shorter skirt or even shorts? Put on a pair of fun tights and wear them! Don't be shy! (Floral Frenzy Tunic & Traveler Leggings)

  • Sweaters :: You probably have a few of these in your closet already. They are the best layering piece that you could possibly have in your closet. They can go over a dress, or tank with jeans. Get colors, get them in different lengths, and pair with everything! (Hello 1990 Tank & What Did The Fox Say Tank)

  • Boots :: Even though you can get creative with sweaters and jackets once the heat outside fades into beautiful fall weather, the sandals will have to go. Boots are where it's at! Get them in ankle booties and knee high for variety. They pair well with jeans, leggings, and skirts. Get them in different shades, and leather is most durable. Don't be afraid to spend a little more on these since they can be worn year-round and last for a while. (Take A Trip Skirt)

  • Scarves :: Scarves have been in style for quite some time, and their versatility cannot be denied. They are both fashionable and functional. Get them in different styles, lengths, and fabrics. Layer them with tanks, dresses, and even long sleeves. Don't be afraid to mix patterns and styles either. (Stopping For Ice Cream Kimono & Casual Friday Top)

Jessica's Coconut Oil Facial Cleanse

There is a major fad going on with coconut oil and it's a gooood thing! Not only does coconut oil have amazing health benefits internally, but there are tons externally. I know the idea of rubbing oil all over your face doesn't sound very appealing, but coconut oil actually helps to reduce acne and blemishes!  It’s loaded with Vitamin E, fatty acids, and a natural moisturizer. It’s anti-fungal, anti-oxidizing, anti-bacterial, and won’t change the PH balance of your skin.  It's loaded with antioxidants and leaves your skin silky smooth!

I am always turned off by conventional facial cleansers due to the toxicity and overwhelming amount of harmful chemicals they contain. This is an amazing solution to truly cleansing your skin!

You can easily leave this as a simple coconut oil cleanse or you can use essential oils to add even more nourishment and repair your skin.

Today’s recipe for face cleaning:

Organic Coconut Oil (Must be organic

Wet warm cloth

Dry soft cloth

Essential oils of choice. I am using

*Frankincense

*Melaleuca

*Lavender

Start by using a warm, wet cloth and place a dab (or spread) on your face to open the pores.

Take a small amount of coconut oil, 3-5 drops of Frankincense essential oil, and gently massage into your skin for about 30 seconds.

Wait about 15-30 seconds and then use your washcloth lightly to remove additional oil. Don’t rub hard!

Your skin will absorb most of the oil, but you can also use a dry, soft cloth or towel, and gently dab on different areas of your face.

If you have any problem areas, like pimples or blemishes, you can use a few drops of melaleuca

and lavender to calm redness and help clear the skin.

This is a wonderful daily solution to beautiful, clean skin!

If you'd like more info on doTerra essential oils, or to order, get them from Jessica! Check out her website here!
