About Heylee

Heylee B. Achten's love for beauty began long before it became her career. As a little girl, some of her favorite memories were shopping with her aunt, playing with makeup, and discovering the creativity and joy that came from helping someone feel seen. That passion only grew as she spent her childhood on stage as a magician's assistant to her brother. Surrounded by creativity, she eventually began doing makeup for his multimedia company, where she realized the beauty industry was exactly where she was meant to be.

To pursue that dream, Heylee attended Make-Up Designory in Burbank, California, in 2004, where she received professional training in glamour and character makeup, hairstyling, and wardrobe design. While living in California, she built an impressive résumé working on The Tyra Banks Show, America's Next Top Model, national advertising campaigns, and with numerous Christian and country music artists. She was also recognized as one of the country's "hottest stylists" by leading fashion professionals, including renowned entertainment publicist Michael Levine.

Although her career was thriving in California, God was calling her back home to Tennessee. She returned to continue working in the Nashville music industry before launching her own business, beginning in the corner of her apartment bedroom and eventually growing into the storefront boutique and beauty bar that is now heylee b. in the heart of downtown Franklin.

While makeup has been her profession for more than 20 years, it has never been the true reason she loves what she does.

People often assume her job is to make women prettier. The truth is, her favorite part has nothing to do with makeup. It's watching someone realize they were already beautiful and valuable before they ever sat in her chair.

Heylee believes makeup should never become the source of your confidence. Confidence comes from knowing who you are. Makeup is simply an expression of that confidence, a way to celebrate the unique person God created you to be, not to become someone you're not.

Whether she's teaching a makeup class, serving a bridal client, mentoring the next generation of artists, or encouraging young girls through her faith-based camps, her mission remains the same: to help people see themselves through God's eyes, embrace who they were created to be, and leave feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Outside of the beauty bar, Heylee's greatest joy is being a wife to her husband, Jacob, and a mom to their two children. Whether she's cheering on her kids, making memories with her family, or simply enjoying life together, those moments are what fill her heart the most. Her faith and family are the foundation of everything she does, and they continue to inspire the heart behind heylee b.
