7 Top Trends for Fall 2014
Fall is just around the corner, and new looks are calling for attention! As designers sent models down the runway, there were a few trends that stood out to us, and we want to share them with you! We know that some will appeal to you and some won't, but now is your chance to stand out and push your closet just a little!
Robe Coats :: We love this! These coats are loose, wrap around your body, and are totally chic. They can be dressed up for a night out, but still worn loose with jeans and a scarf. Don't be afraid to embrace the robe coat this fall/winter!
Novelty Prints :: We aren't sure who doesn't love a great print, and taking it way out of the box are novelty prints. They are whimsical, fun, and flirty. While you don't have to wear that print head to toe, we would encourage a couple stand-out pieces that you can wear with anything.
Knits :: Nothing says "classic" more than knits. These are rarely out of style, and come in every size, shape, color, and style. Wear them with everything. They make a great closet staple that can be worn almost year-round.
Scandinavian :: We have seen amazing printed leggings and sweaters for a few years, but now is the time to embrace your inner Swede! Leggings are the easiest way to add that super fun Scandinavian style to your closet. Just pair them with your favorite knit sweater and great boots and you're set!
Dresses over pants :: We know that this trend will be more of a stretch for some. But we think it's a great way to take some of those great tunics you bought for summer and carry them through the year. You can pair short or long dresses with everything from skinny jeans to Dickies, it's your call!
Cowboy :: Living in Nashville, we find this trend perfect! There are so many great things about true country style, so find your inner Carrie Underwood and pair those fringe boots you already have with some great country prints! Don't be afraid of the big hats as well...they are always a plus and great statement piece.
Turtlenecks :: These are not your 1987-style turtlenecks. These are high-fashion must-haves that come in many shapes and sizes. They are great to wear on their own, but are even better for layering. Consider this a staple, and don't be afraid to wear it many different ways.
Heylee B will be bringing in some great fashion for this fall, so watch for these trends to hit our racks soon!
Introducing B. Cosmetics!
We are so excited to announce that Heylee B. is now carrying B. Cosmetics! This new cosmetic line will be bringing you the best in foundations, eye color, lip shades, and blush.
The foundation is mineral-based and talc-free and will be available in multiple shades. It is a liquid foundation that is seriously amazing! It goes on smooth and dries quickly to a powder-like feel. What's even more amazing about this foundation is the price! It will be available for around $28, which is a steal for this top of the line stuff.
Bronzers are available as a matte and the other one has a hint of shimmer. They come in a pressed powder form. Bronzer is a great way to keep that sun-kissed look year-round. And with these fun zebra and leopard prints, you're sure to love them!
There will be 4 shades of blush to bring the color to your cheeks: natural, coral, plum, and a pink berry. Each one will also come as a pressed, mineral-based powder that will go on your face leaving you looking fresh and bright. Heylee's favorite blush, and a must-have for her bag is the plum. She says you'd never know it, but it looks amazing on almost every skin type!
Eyeshadows will be available in matte, mineral-matte, and polychromatic shades. Each shadow will be available individually, which gives you the ability to mix-and-match the shades that you love and build your own eye shadow palette. Because each shadow has a magnetic bottom, they can be put together into a magnetic palette. No being stuck with a color that you don't love ever again!
Last, but not least, are the lipsticks. There will be tons of shades for you to choose from that will go great with every style you choose and every skin tone. The one that Heylee is never without? The hot red color "Impulse"! And at $14, you can get a couple!
We are so excited to bring this amazing new line to you, and if you aren't sure about colors, Heylee would be willing to send you samples so you can make sure you have the right one! Because of her training, she is also willing and available on a limited basis to set up appointments with you to give the once-over and show you all the stuff that goes best with your skin color. Just email her at heylee@heyleeb.com to set up an appointment or ask her a question!
Heylee B is Now Bringing You Cosmetics!
Ladies (and gentlemen who care about cosmetics), Heylee B. is proud to announce that it has just launched its very own cosmetic line called B.
Now, some of you might be wondering, "B.?"
In keeping with the Heylee B brand, the "B" stands for Brianne, which is Heylee's middle name.
(Catchy and easy to remember!)
For those who didn't know, Heylee Achten (owner of Heylee B) is a professionally trained make-up artist who graduated from the prestigious M.U.D. (Make Up Designory) School in Burbank, CA. While attending M.U.D., Heylee learned beauty essentials, airbrushing, bridal make-up, high-fashion trends, and avant-garde looks just to name a few. Each class helped her hone her skills and be on the cutting edge of all things make-up. While in Los Angeles, she even had the opportunity to work with stars such as Kristin Bell and even be on the set of America's Next Top Model.
This new make-up line will be available for purchase starting on August 1st, and it will include some of the best trends and color palettes on the market! And for those who hate make-up loaded full of harsh chemicals, B will be mineral based, which is better for your skin! We love that these cosmetics will be top of the line but still at an affordable price!
Keep your eyes peeled for B., which will be headed your way August 1st!
5 Ways to Take Your Summer Wardrobe Into Fall
It can be a little discouraging to look into your closet and see summer clothes filling your hangers as fall peeks around the corner.
"How in the world am I supposed to wear that summer maxi when it gets cold?"
"Short skirts won't work right?"
"Please tell me that the 4 pairs of shorts I bought won't collect dust!"
Have no fear! We have 5 ways that you can wear those summer clothes into the fall, no problem! (Plus save money because you don't have to buy new! Woot woot!!) We are showing you below some of the clothes that are great to pair with what is popular this fall. If you don't already have these year-round threads, be sure to get them before they are gone!
- Leather jackets :: This is a must have for every closet. Black would be our go-to color since it goes with everything, but a nice caramel brown is not a bad choice either. You can spend hundreds on nice leather or less than $30 on synthetic, so don't be afraid to get creative with your budget. Remember that amazing maxi or jumper that you bought? Pair it with a leather jacket, a cute pair of booties, and a scarf and voila! An amazing, and much warmer, fall look without breaking the bank! (Get To It Jumper & Midnight Tide Dress)
- Tights or leggings :: Again, a must-have because they go with everything! Pair leggings with any tunic, layering with a sweater or jacket (especially if it's short sleeved) and throw on boots to keep your toes warm. Have a shorter skirt or even shorts? Put on a pair of fun tights and wear them! Don't be shy! (Floral Frenzy Tunic & Traveler Leggings)
- Sweaters :: You probably have a few of these in your closet already. They are the best layering piece that you could possibly have in your closet. They can go over a dress, or tank with jeans. Get colors, get them in different lengths, and pair with everything! (Hello 1990 Tank & What Did The Fox Say Tank)
- Boots :: Even though you can get creative with sweaters and jackets once the heat outside fades into beautiful fall weather, the sandals will have to go. Boots are where it's at! Get them in ankle booties and knee high for variety. They pair well with jeans, leggings, and skirts. Get them in different shades, and leather is most durable. Don't be afraid to spend a little more on these since they can be worn year-round and last for a while. (Take A Trip Skirt)
- Scarves :: Scarves have been in style for quite some time, and their versatility cannot be denied. They are both fashionable and functional. Get them in different styles, lengths, and fabrics. Layer them with tanks, dresses, and even long sleeves. Don't be afraid to mix patterns and styles either. (Stopping For Ice Cream Kimono & Casual Friday Top)

What in the world is a NikiBiki?
In my closet there are a couple of staples:
- Jeans: skinnies, boot cut, boyfriend, ankle cut, distressed and dark wash.
- Sweatshirts: zip-up, hoodie, athletic, and every variety in between.
- Tanks/camis: white, nude, black, gray, green, navy, purple, and orange.
All of these things I wear regularly, and I don't mind having multiples of. I like them in all styles and cuts. They go with everything.
Tanks and cami's are one of the things that I most diligent about keeping in my closet since I wear them pretty much every day. I wear them on their own, under shirts a little too sheer, and with kimonos and cardigans. I like them in every length. Their versatility is what makes them so great! But one of the things I hate is when they ride up or they are too short. But then I found a NikiBiki.
What in the world is a NikiBiki you might ask? It's an amazing cami that is designed to specifically battle not riding-up and rolling over the course of your day. Plus, they are made of a super soft material that breathes...unlike so many of their cotton counterparts. My favorite are the extra long tanks that I wear with leggings and under maxi's. (They hide your butt and help to slim) The regular length cami's and tanks are also not too short...something that tends to drive me nuts! NikiBiki changed everything about the way I bought and wore tanks, and I won't wear anything else! They are simply the best.
If you are a tank and cami wearer, and are looking for that perfect one, look no further! The NikiBIki that we carry at Heylee B. will be the only one that you'll ever want to wear. (Can be found in our "Intimates" section.) Be sure to get yours today!!
Pretty In Polish
When it comes to nail polishes, you fall into 1 of 3 categories.
1. You paint your nails in a regular routine, meticulously matching each shade to your outfits.
2. You paint your nails on occasion, but wait until the paint has completely chipped off (or scraped off) until you consider another shade.
3. Paint my nails?
No matter where you find yourself, there's something to be said about perfectly manicured nails painted in beautiful shades to enhance a look. This is especially true in the summer, when both our hands and our feet our on regular display. Here are some of the hottest colors and styles that are sure to sizzle this summer!
The most classic color on the market is a true red from O.P.I. The shade we use the most is "Big Apple Red". This color is a classic because it is the most commonly worn nail color, and it is appropriate for any occasion and any person. We also love that it goes with pretty much everything in our closet! There are ways to jazz up this everyday favorite. One of our favorite ways it to add a little bit of glitter polish to go on just 1 or 2 fingers as an accent.
A less bold look than red, this blush/nude is a very subtle polish that pairs well with every look because it blends into your natural nail and skin color so well. We chose O.P.I.'s "Chillin' Like A Villian". Because of the subtlety of this color, adding a pop of color, print, or glitter gives it a little glam. There are tons of glitter polishes, but we chose O.P.I. Rose of Light since it had more of the pink and gold tones that went well with this polish. It also looks amazing on its' own!
If you like to stand out and push the fashion envelope farther than a simple red nail, we love some of the new colors from last fall and this spring. There are yellows, blues, purples, and greens that really make a statement. We love wearing O.P.I.'s "Thanks a Windmillion". This color is similar to a robin's egg blue. Because it's such a soft color, this is an easy transition color if you are typically a pink or red kinda girl.
After putting on any polish, always finish off with a top coat. This will help give your polish a longer lifespan. It also helps give it that ultra-gloss finish that we can't get enough of! There are tons of top coats out there that boast a quick-dry that aren't all that quick. However, we found one that lives up to it's fast-drying claim: Out The Door super fast drying top coat for nails. It actually dries super fast! And for someone who's always on-the-go, this is essential!
Are you ready to swoon?!
When we told you recently that we went to Dallas and were ridiculously excited about the new designers that we found, we weren't kidding! And guess what? Inventory is flowing in and we can't get enough! There are new tops, skirts, dresses, pants, and accessories that will make you swoon!
We really wanted to take Heylee B. not only fashion forward, but into a world that really defines who we are. We want to offer you all of those great closet staples that never get old, all while expanding your ability to think outside the box. In doing that, we have taken every new item and styled it with accessories, and given you the ability to see a complete style...and hopefully help you see it in a new light (and in your closet). We all know that seeing an article of clothing on a rack is much harder to envision on ourselves than it is if we see it walking down the runway or in a well laid out catalog spread.
Our team favorite so far has been this mustard-colored printed tunic by a'reve. This tunic boasts not only a bold color, but a beautiful gray feather print and gray crocheted color detail. It can be worn as both a dress and a tunic (fancy name for long shirt), and we paired it with a pair of brown leather booties and our panama hat. But don't think that you can't throw on a pair of skinny jeans and flip flops with this. It's versatile and a stand-out winner in our books! It fits amazing and would look great on every body type. This is a must-have for every style-savvy woman's closet!
Next on our list was this ultra-feminine coral dress by a new company we fell in love with: Timing. Though this dress may seem simple to you, we think it's understatedly chic. It's fully lined, has an elastic wait, and scoops at the neck in the front and back. The pleating and cap sleeves make the dress flattering and modest. We paired this dress with a vintage pin necklace that really makes a statement! We added this dress to our closet as a great Easter dress...but it's also easily carried over into an everyday dress with flats or wedges.
While we did add a few new designers to our list of favorites, a couple companies continue to impress us and bring great styles consistently. One of those companies is Blupepper. This scalloped edge ultra-intricate top is one of those tops we just couldn't pass-up. We were obsessed. The delicate detail of the shirt is so understatedly beautiful, we can't stop looking at it. It is definitely a stand-out piece and a must-have for your closet.
Lastly, with both Memorial Day and the 4th of July just around the corner, we couldn't pass up this American flag shirt by another new company to get excited about, Classic. It's a straight-forward knit that is perfect for summer! This shirt is sure to stand out at any holiday party, or stand alone with your favorite jeans or shorts. It will take your closet up that notch that you've been looking for! And, for our British friends, we have a Union Jack version for you!
We hope that you're as excited about these new looks as we are...just don't miss out on any of items that you love because sizes are limited and they always go quickly!

How to Accomplish an Effortless Summer Look (No Blowdryer Required!)
The looks for spring/summer 2014 are something to get really excited about! Crop tops, palazzo pants, graphic & floral prints, fringe, and sheer/lace overlays are just a few of the must-haves that are already in stock at Heylee B. One of our major favorites is this amazing Bohemian 3/4-length ivory skirt with floor-length lace detail overlay. Not only will it keep you cool as the temps rise, you will definitely be turning heads with such a trendy statement! (Click here to add it to your closet!)
But, we all know that having the right article of clothing is only half the battle to looking fabulous in 2014. With the inevitable rise in temperatures, we are bound to want to refer to the age-old trend of ponytails and buns to keep our necks cool. But we think we can take your look up a notch or two by giving you a chic and effortless look in just a few minutes...and you won't even have to break out your blow dryer!
STEP 1:Give hair a good tousle for volume.
**For already-washed hair, add a little dry shampoo or dry hairspray to add volume as well
STEP 2: Take a favorite embellished headband (preferably with elastic) and pull over the crown of your head, leaving a small "pouf" in your hair.
**Check out our new embellished headbands here!
STEP 2: Begin to wrap hair up and around the elastic part of the headband, leaving down the sides. (You will do those sections last)
Tuck in stray pieces so that they form a sort of curl around, hiding the elastic. You want to keep hair loose around the elastic, because making it too tight won't give you the right look. The goal is, again, effortless.
STEP 4: Take the side pieces that you left untucked and section them out, wrapping and tucking them in to the back.
STEP 5: Tuck in any stray pieces and spray with a dry hairspray for hold.
What's so great about this 'do? Dress it up or dress it down, you'll look and feel amazing! Also, be sure to go to Heylee B to find more clothes to go along with this look, as some cute headbands for your hair! With a look like this, there's no doubt that you will spend your spring & summer turning heads in all the right ways!

Spring is (finally) Within Sight!
Here at Heylee B, we have joked that these last few months have felt like a trip to Narnia, where it's "always winter and never Christmas." This fall and winter have been a long, and, in some places, brutal one that has hung on much longer than we would like. We know that you're just as ready for warm, springtime sunshine and trips to the beaches we are. The good news? Those days are finally within sight!
This past week, our staff headed to Dallas Buyers Market (as the wind and snow let loose in Nashville) to get a glimpse of what's to come for the warmer season. The 18-story beehive of a building boasted tons of new looks and trends to get excited about! The hundreds of racks of new and old trends with beautiful fabrics got our wheels turning as we thought of you and what Heylee B could offer you in the coming months. You can for sure look forward to new floral & graphic prints adorning shirts, dresses and shorts; lace and crocheted detailing to really make you swoon; and vintage threads to take your closet up a notch. Our staff could barely contain themselves! We are definitely itching for just about everything to be in our own closets.
One of the most amazing things that we discovered were a couple of new designers that are taking some of our favorite ideas up a notch. They were pairing all of the trends of 2013 & 2014 with some great vintage looks to bring together a super chic style that anyone would be able to wear. New dresses with vintage flair, silk kimonos, and edgy jumpsuits/rompers were all on our list of must haves from here. Heylee found this great floor length floral kimono that we were obsessed with! (And will be available in a few weeks!)
We flew back home energized and with tons of new clothes, bags, and jewelry en route to our online store, so be sure to keep checking in. We are confident that you will be just as thrilled as we are with these new finds! Everything we have coming in will be in limited quantities (thanks to high demand on these designers), so you will want to be sure to get in on those pieces as soon as they come in so you can get them before someone else snatches them up!
